Grocery Store Parking Lot

it hit me in a grocery store parking lot
i was about to grab some kale and an avacado with some money that i borrowed without asking
and i got the bright idea to post that picture from today
the one she took at lunch to celebrate and grieve the fact that you're going away
and it came on like a flashflood
i had no napkins or tissues to blow my nose but the important thing is, im sober enough to miss my friend when she goes.

but on the bright side, your leaving reminds me of when i was there
sitting under some big black sky smoking a cigarette and thinking, if i could do anything, go anywhere, chase any dream
well first id quit these things that are hurting me
and thats when i did what youre doing now
i jumped off that cliff, i let go of my ground.
i did the freefall. i trusted like my life depended on it that i could achieve whatever i wanted
and every few years i do it all over again.
and that's how i met you friend
so more than sad, i'm happy to say, go on your way, wide eyed wild child
i'll see you again someday.
